Entrepreneur Competence Model
Entrepreneur Scan arose from scientific research into entrepreneurship. The Ph.D. research by Martijn Driessen at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands led to the Entrepreneur Competence Model. He was amazed that about 1 in 2 people with the serious intent in becoming a business owner, failed within five years. Since then his research led to a model with four basic elements of a competence: Motivation, Personal Characteristics, Qualities, and Knowledge & Experience and on how to develop entrepreneurship. High validity and reliability
These elements are then translated into what is needed for developing successful entrepreneurship. From this research and its widespread use in the field of coaching and developing entrepreneurship, our entrepreneur tests, tools and training have been further developed. E-Scan was reliable at α 0.91. Moreover, we score high on customer satisfaction by both the end-user and their coach. In addition, research showed that entrepreneurial mindsets and firm performance have significantly improved. Success rates went up to 89% within 5 years (OECD, 2014). The average success rate is around 50%.
